Playing with Joy's new camera at Sea World

I was actually thinking of my parents when I bought Joy a Sony NEX-5 camera kit, I wish I'd taken movies of our parents and kids. The NEX-5 is like my canon dslr but much smaller with a big image sensor, very light, compact and she can put it in her purse. It takes great pictures and the big plus HD movies - I set it to P-mode so I can change the contrast, saturation, etc... Here are some samples - Joy says "Her new camera?"

A short video clip - the resolution is not that great on the blog due to high compression.

I love eBay - Parts for my dead lens

You can almost find anything on eBay.  My Canon 17-85mm lens had stopped working when I changed the aperture setting, the camera displays an error 99.  I found an iris assembly for less $25 with shipping, works great now.  The Canon repair shop wanted over $400 to fix.  The easy part of repairing the lens was taking it apart, if you take a lot of pictures is easier to put it back together - but I forgot to do it.
I remember when I was young, my dad had a clock from Japan and it stopped working.  I open it up and the parts started flying out, it had a lot of missing parts.
I found a mustang gas tank for our RV generator that I converted from propane to gas. Parts for my jet ski, quads, etc...  I normally buy from eBay seller that has more than 95% positive feedback.

The flex circuit broke due to bad design it has a small tight turning radius for zooming.
